Dependency cases in Los Angeles County
In Los Angeles County, child welfare investigations are conducted by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) through regional offices across the county. When a petition is filed, the case is heard in the juvenile dependency division of the Los Angeles County Superior Court. Most dependency matters are heard at the Edmund D. Edelman Children’s Court in Monterey Park, and some Antelope Valley matters are heard in Lancaster.
